Best of 2017

James Salmon what is it with the hordes of young men running out to a crashed car? I can understand the jeers and cheers, but on every shot,
sometimes even before the car has stopped rolling/crashing, numerous young men start running towards the car (often, appearing to be the same people as the shot before).

Are they ghouls, wanting to see what terrible injury has just happened (a torn off arm on the back seat, perhaps?), or wanting to be a hero by pulling someone out of a blazing wreck, or getting ready to strip the car of any saleable part (shades of a flock of vultures picking over the carcass of some poor unfortunate beast in the middle of Africa), or is it part of the "spectator experience" to help push the car, now with bent prop shaft & wheels, back onto the track so it can hopefully continue on its way? I hope someone can explain this to me!

Coovargo People seem very confused in the comments section. It's human instinct to run to what would constitute as an emergency where someone could be in danger, as fast as possible. I have done the same thing when I've seen accidents in intersections.

Obviously, if you're going to run towards danger, be aware of your surroundings. If you see an accident, and in 15 seconds a fire starts, depending on your distance, if you were walking, that person is more likely to burn to death. If you were running, you have a much greater chance of getting there in time to render help. Life does not wait patiently for you when it comes to potential runaway scenarios, and it does not give second chances.
