Presentation of a new ultra-fast US helicopter Sikorsky S-97 Raider

American air raider "S-97" is the new "Sikorsky company Sikorsky is
preparing a new fighting helicopter for the war in the southern latitudes. According to media reports, U.S.
helicopter Corporation "Sikorsky" is developing new rotorcraft "S-97 Raider". Brand new layout rotors provide a relatively high speed of the machine.

They rotate in opposite directions and "push" the tail rotor. This machine, which is in the American army in the future has all chances to replace the helicopter "Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior", created in two different functional variants – reconnaissance and attack.

As expected, the first test flight of the prototype of the "raider" will carry out in 2014.

Good speed is not the only advantage of the future helicopter. The main "raider" is able to hover at an altitude of 2000 meters above the surface and at high temperature. Such demands of the military originated on the basis of their Afghan combat experience, where the high temperature does not allow the modern single-rotor helicopters for a long time to hang on the same place." "S-97" has already had some experience.

Most recently, the company "Sikorsky" helicopter closed the program "Sikorsky X2". The main task of this program was not so much the development of a new helicopter as envisaged running the latest technologies and aerodynamics of the fuselage and screw schemes to further their use in the project "Sikorsky S-97 Raider".

Mr Mike
Not a rugged helicopter. More weight added for retractable landing gear and extra main rotor. Over complicated for no reason. You would think they would use exhaust to turn instead of a prop in the back if they were trying to go all modern with the design. Just keep the black hawk it works just fine. It’s like how our government was thinking of decommissioning the A-10 but then was like naw it’s still doing a great job....yeah the black hawk is still doing a great job.
